Mission Statement
POINT TO WHERE IT HURTS is an artistic performance production company founded by Alanna Dorsett and Olivia Hardin that delivers creations for original devised pieces to established works. By digging deep into the human mind and soul, we carry the utmost love, compassion, and curiosity in discovering what makes every human story uniquely important to tell - the psyche of the human experience. We don't simply want to tell stories; we need to tell them and invite the audience into our imagined world, both emotionally and physically, to create truly profound, cathartic, healing experiences for everyone involved - audience and actors alike.
In developing and rehearsing work, we create a safe and sacred place for our honored guest artists who come from every realm of the artistic world. Essential to our practice is sharing powerful, life truths for the world see through diverse skills and mediums. Every artist brings unique creativity - talent and life experience; synergistic collaboration results in something greater than could be imagined individually. Our combined efforts free us from the strict definitions of producing or developing a particular type of theatre or film. We believe something profound and original can be developed with any piece.
In both original and previously established works we draw from life - pleasure and pain, passion and apathy, love and hate. We find that which makes us human and expose it to the light. By dividing in headfirst, confronting and facing our own demons, we provide a gateway for others to do so as well. Unless we open ourselves to all that makes us human - the vulnerability of mind, heart, and soul - we rob both ourselves and the characters we give life the respect they deserve. Always demonstrated is that pain is not limited to the physical body but rather is part of the human landscape of emotion, spirit, and existence.
